San Mai is a Japanese term for a steel made of 3 layers. The core is the important part being high carbon and the jacket could be any metal they could get there hands on.
in this case the hand forged core is 80crv2 and the jacket is 150+ layers of 1095 and 15n20 pattern welded steel. Hand sanded to 600 grit and etched to show the pattern the blade is about 8cm. this hidden tang design handle is two pieces of yew with its vibrant tones and a brass liner running the length of the handle stainless steel pins finish it off.
